Hello Parents!
Welcome to the Gr. 2 French Blog! I will be keeping you updated here on a bi-weekly to monthly basis what we are exploring in class. We are continuing to establish routine this month. The students are practicing introducing themselves, using familiar expressions and reviewing school vocabulary. We are playing a lot of games to work on our speaking. Homework will start next month and will be a very small task. I have been using the website 'boukili' in the classroom. You will need to download the app first before using it. Once you have created an account, you can click on top where it says to get access to the online app to start reading. After each reading, their are questions to answer. Hello!
Spring is here! I can`t believe it is almost the end of the school year! The students have been working hard on their research projects for Social Studies. The presentations will start next week. After they are finished sharing, we will going back to French for the rest of the school year. I am planning to do a project for the end of the year. I have updated the homework tab with a new text! Bonjour,
I apologize for not updating the blog recently. It is hard to believe that we are 3 months away from the end of the school year! The students have been talking about the weather/clothing. We have been practicing describing what they are wearing and developing our listening skills to what others are describing. The students will be doing a presentation at the end of the week on the weather. They choose a city and will be presenting as a meteorologist. I have exposed them to many different video on the TFO website (search : Minimétéo). Some students have really gotten into it. I will be using google Earth or the Weather Network as a background. Here is an example of the template. Bonjour et bienvenue au Minimétéo__________. Je m`appelle__________________. C`est _______________________(l`hiver, l`automne, l`été, le printemps). Aujourd`hui, il_________________(ex. pleut). Portez__________________(ex : un chandail). Au revoir! Once finished, we will be going into Social Studies. We will be talking about Canada and what we eat, wear, housing, etc. We will then research other countries in the world and compare countries. Students will be given a country to present to the class. We are now finished our unit on Traditions! It is time to go back to French! This month and into March, we will be exploring weather and clothing vocabulary. Students will be practicing describing what they are wearing and what other students are wearing (ex : Je porte une chemise bleue) . I have a few interesting ideas to evaluate their communication. It may involve being a meteoroligist!

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays with friends and family! I apologize that I have not updated my blog in a while. I have been experiencing technical difficulties with my laptop. This month we will be talking about traditions in Social Studies. Students will be talking about traditions that they have and comparing them to traditions in other countries. Their may be a project that will be done at home. I will assign homework during the week and posting it in the homework section. Here are some songs the students will be listening to this month. I am sorry that I have not updated my blog or the homework the past few weeks. I have been experiencing some technical difficulties with my laptop and I still am. I have decided to put the homework on hold for the next two weeks. We will start back in the New Year. We have finished our fall centres and will be going into Christmas vocabulary and crafts! We have also finished writing our descriptive paragraphs about themselves. They will have to present them in the New Year when they are the leader for the day. For those who are not comfortable doing it in front of everyone will have the option to do it during a recess time. If you have any questions or concerned please do not hesitate to contact me at school. Here some songs I would love the kids to listen to as well as a story. Chansons : Quand le Père Noël - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJxFHG1Z7jk&index=6&list=PL6ACA59763D644FD4 Vive le vent - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dX0nIE6JL8 Luc le lutin : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0CSpnVoMVE&list=PL6ACA59763D644FD4&index=7 We have finished exploring maps and talking about different physical features. The students are reading short descriptive paragraphs on people. They will have to write their own different descriptive paragraph that will have to be presented to the class either in front of the class or by video made in class. Here is an example of what they would have to write.
